West Sussex Pantomimes - Nothhelm's 2017 Christmas Panto Guide
Christmas in West Sussex isn’t complete until you’ve visited a traditional Pantomime and this year we have a great selection to pick from "Oh no, we don't"...."Oh Yes, we do". Now, now that's enough of that. The Nothhelm team like nothing better than heading out for a fun night of innuendo and slapstick comedy during the festive season. One year our editor even joined us, rumour has it he was even heard shouting “He’s Behind You” although he still denies it ;-)
So yes, we love a good panto there so uniquely British and wonderfully misunderstood by the rest of the world. Interestingly, pantomimes were initially inspired by an Italian 16th-century form of street theatre called Commedia dell’arte. Back in 1700's, John Rich, actor-manager of The Theatre Royal, Covent Garden London, realised the potential in the Commedia characters and developed the idea. He later became known as the father of Pantomime, well there's a thing. You can read more about John and in this article on the VMA website The History Of Pantomime.
So here we go you lovelies our guide to this years Christmas Panto's in West Sussex. We have made every effort to make sure all times, dates and information is correct. However, things do change, and tickets sell out so please check with the theatre before arranging your night out. Oh, and one last thing Have Fun!
